The HIV Pathogenesis Programme (HPP) Laboratory, which is located in the Doris Duke Medical Research Institute (DDMRI) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine Campus, has been involved in studies of HIV-1 immunopathogenesis for over 10 years. The laboratory has undertaken groundbreaking work on the role of human leukocyte antigens in the control of HIV-1 infection and on immune responses associated with partial control of HIV-1 replication.
